• Wide-Ranging Charges: Allegations include 435 rapes, attempted rapes, abductions with intent, indecent assaults, incest, and other grave offences.

• Victim Toll: A total of 242 victims, with 153 under the age of 18, have come forward—224 victims are female, while 18 are male.

• Disturbing Details: The youngest accused is a 12-year-old boy charged with raping a seven-year-old girl, and the youngest victim is a three-year-old girl, allegedly abused by her 30-year-old uncle.

• Parallel Cases: In a separate yet related crackdown, 417 people have been charged with 513 counts of serious crime offences, involving 310 victims.

• Case Withdrawals: Authorities have discontinued 59 sexual offence cases and 33 serious crime cases in 2024.

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community, authorities have charged 250 individuals with a total of 651 counts of serious sexual offences as of December last year. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) disclosed a disturbing breakdown of the charges, which include a staggering 435 cases of rape, alongside attempted rape, abduction with intent to commit rape, and other heinous acts. Additional counts involve 44 instances of indecent assault, two cases of incest, eight cases of deƝlement, and 136 cases of sexual assault.

The human toll is equally distressing. Of the 242 victims identified, a heartbreaking 153 are minors under the age of 18. The overwhelming majority of these victims are female, with 224 girls and women suffering from the brutal consequences of these crimes, while 18 male victims have also come forward. Among the most alarming details is the case of a 12-year-old boy accused of raping a seven-year-old girl, while another case involves a three-year-old victim who was allegedly abused by her 30-year-old uncle.

In a parallel effort to tackle serious criminal activity, a separate set of cases has seen 417 people charged with 513 counts of serious crime offences as of December 31, 2024. In these cases, 47 of the accused are juveniles and nine are police officers, underscoring the wide-ranging nature of the criminal conduct under scrutiny. The ODPP confirmed that 310 victims were affected by these offences, including 51 individuals who were related to the accused. Like the sexual offences cases, a number of these have been withdrawn—33 cases were discontinued following procedural developments in 2024.

These revelations have ignited public outrage and prompted urgent calls for a comprehensive review of the systems meant to protect society’s most vulnerable members. As investigations continue and more details emerge, the nation watches closely, demanding accountability and swift justice for the victims of these grievous crimes.

Stay tuned as this developing story unfolds, with further updates expected as the legal process advances and authorities work to bring those responsible to justice.
