In a move that’s set to shake up the rugby scene, Fiji Rugby Union has unveiled five exceptionally talented schoolboys who are now part of the SportsWorld Fijian Under-20 team. Head coach Senirusi Seruvakula, known for his eye for raw talent, has meticulously selected players aged between 17 and 19 with an eye on nurturing them into future national heroes.

The chosen prodigies include Isoa Koroinawai, Savenaca Qabale, and Sikeli Bari from Queen Victoria School; Saimoni Vaisova from Ratu Kadavulevu School; and Asi Tui-lagi from Marist Brothers High School. These young athletes are not just being prepared for the upcoming New Zealand tour later this month—they are being groomed as tomorrow’s stars, with the ultimate aim of earning a spot in the prestigious Fiji Water Flying Fijians.

Coach Seruvakula is full of praise for the selection, emphasizing the immediate impact these youngsters can have on the team while also building the long-term foundation of Fiji Rugby. “These young players will gain valuable experience not only through the tour but also in future competitions,” he said, underlining the strategic importance of investing in youth talent.

In a forward-thinking collaboration with the Ministry of Education, players from Queen Victoria School and Ratu Kadavulevu School will transition to Suva Sangam College. This move is designed to help them balance intensive training sessions with their academic responsibilities, ensuring that they excel both on the field and in the classroom.

This tour is only the beginning. Initially set to compete in the Oceania Rugby Under-20 competitions, the team will also take on the U20 Super Rugby challenge in March 2025—an opportunity that could fast-track these budding athletes onto the international stage.

As Fiji gears up to unleash its next generation of rugby legends, the spotlight is firmly on these five promising schoolboys. Their journey not only symbolizes the future of Fijian rugby but also ignites hope for a new era of sporting excellence across the Pacific.

Stay tuned as these rising stars continue their quest for glory, with every match and every challenge bringing them one step closer to representing our nation at the highest level.
